How can I plot stresses on all plies of same material on fiber orientation system inside Mechanical?
If a named selection is created based on plies with same material, fiber orientation system cannot be selected, since each ply might have a different orientation. This is easily doable in PyDPF-Composites, but it requires to move away from Mechanical GUI. Is there any option to stay in Mechanical GUI and get stresses on…

How to Run Mechanical, DPF, MAPDL from PyAnsys and utilize AI Tools
Here are some tips and examples for how to run these applications with PyAnsys and utilize AI to run the applications from any platform. AI needs to do 2 things to control the Ansys applications: 1. Create/Modify python code 2. Execute python code With those 2 abilities alone, you can run Ansys tools, and AI is really,…

How to get bearing load components from file.rst using pyDPF ?
I wrote a python script to combine MECHANICAL results. I need to know the exact components of the bearing loads applied to the model. Can I get them using pyDPF ? Presently I extract them from the ds.dat file and it's not as robust as I would like : ds.dat is modified at each MECHANICAL version. Thank you for your help !

Extracting nodal moments using DPF
Hi all, I am currently writing a script which requires me to have nodal force and moment components along a given edge. For reference, all bodies within the model are shells. For forces this is trivial using dpf.operators.result.element_nodal_forces, however from what I can see there doesn't seem to be an equivalent in DPF…

Images in medini Markdown files
Hi, In previous medini versions I used links to image files (in the config folder) to display pictures in Markdown files, but that is not possible anymore in projects residing on a medini Collaboration server (the images are not in the file system anymore, so a relative path cannot be defined). Is there a possibility to…

Is there a way to access SMXB and SMNB via PyDPF?
I am using ANSYS Workbench 2024 R2 and 2025 R2 for structural analyses. I'd like to be able to access SMXB and SMNB through the PyDPF available within Mechanical. I could not find anything in the documentation, so was curious if there was a way to access these values that are historically obtained via plotting with…
