Import option Reliability - HW library

Question

Hello,   We would like to know possibility ( either tool option or scripting ) to import changed values from excel sheet back to existing reliability view of HW BOM / Library. For scripting possibility we can first export , and import same excel sheet which contains changed value (Eg. from 1V to 5V) back to medini file. refer attachment.  Regards,  Rashmi

Hello Rashmi,     why do yo want to make the changes in an Excel file and not directly in medini? A library should be rather stable and thus a change in variables values would occur very infrequently ...  Anyway, this workflow is for that reason also not supported nativly. Moreover, the number of columns for variables may vary as only those variables are listed which are used in at least one type. In addition variable values can only be entered in medini for those types which include the variable (all other variables are greyed out and can not be written in medini) - this can not be ensured in an Excel file. And finally variables may also be context related (i.e. marked as derived) - this could also not be handled in a correct way.  medini does include a feature to assign/update variable values in a semi-automatic way, however that is based on a configuration file in JSON (see   Ansys medini™ analyze User Guide > Safety Analysis > Reliability Prediction > Automation of Failure Rate Selection from Handbooks )     It would also be possible to write a script to update values from an Excel table - howver, the script would need to handle also all conditions I mentioned above. Moreover, as this would be sensitive data which impact all analyzes at later stages (FMEDA, quantitative FTA), also a qualification of that script according ISO26262-8 Section 11 may be required.
