feature request: project of the same name already exists

Question

Proposal: Extend UI to allow user specifying an alternative name for the to be loaded project, when a project of the same name is already present in the workspace.       (Screenshot when loading mprx from drag&drop)       (Screenshot showing File -> Import project...)     Use-case: Sometimes different states of the project are exported without previous renaming (as it is slow... - it teakes more than one second). Importing then is a nuisance, when a conflicting project of the same name has to be first renamed in order to load the other project side by side.

Hi Peter,      if you work with GIT or SVN the compare will add tags automatically and the issue does not occure. The question is if you have setup your SVN/GIT settings for mprx diff and merge correctly.      Please find an additional description regarding the SVN Setup attached.

Hi Joël,  I'm really not looking for workarounds (I know them), but rather am proposing an improvement.  The wirzard shall offer me to state an alternative name:     "project a" is already loaded.  I want to load another project that is named "project a". Now the user interface proposes me to "cancel" or continue with alternative name, wheareas the input box could suggest "project a_copy" with "_copy" being highligted for easy changing.     (Note: the second "project a" is most likely not identical to the previously loaded "project a", but has changes from possibly another user or is simply an older file).     Best regards    Peter

Hi Peter,      one way of coming around this issue would be to start the project from mprx, Then rename it and export it. You may also run the comparison from there using the mprx of projects at other locations, may it be baseline under version control or an mprx that is stored locally. At least for the time being this work around should solve your issue.      Would you expect the wizard to ask you if you want to import a copy instead ?      The wizard would then have a 2nd button "Import a copy instead" and import the project with the name addon "_copy".
