You may have stumbled over the task to render a checklist in a custom medini BIRT report. The plain default checklist items are straight. I for example used an OCL data set that automatically prepared all columns for me, including the column for the "check date".
Having a closer look, BIRT shows it as of type "Date" as it ought to be:

Nice. Now the problem is that
custom date properties are not working as easy as that. Lets add one and see how we can tell BIRT that it should behave the same.
In the diagnostic view you can see already the difference: while the native "Check Date" is a true Date object the custom date attribute is still returned as as numeric value, you know, milliseconds since ... etc.
So we have to convert it in the BIRT report design, best in the data set. I created a custom column using the following script. Note the usage of java.sql.Date object which is expected by BIRT here:
