Hello all,

I am interested in visualizing the AP matrix results in tables differently arranged as those available in the Risk tab of an FMEA Worksheet. I would like to create 5 different Occurrence-Detection tables, one for each Severity level group, as defined in the VAD-AIAG guide (example screenshot below).

I'm pretty sure this isn't directly possible in Medini, so I'm considering scripting for this. Are there any tips on what to prefer/avoid in this direction or is there anyone who has done something similar?

Hi Dimitris,

does't that look pretty much liek teh risk matrices in medini? What actually are you missing?

Anyway, I never did a custom risk matrix report but I guess thatÄs feasible with BIRT but also with M2Doc. If docx is okay, I tend to advice to use M2Doc from the start.

Hi,

I had the same idea. I wnted to dipslay the AP overview.

The request is simple in case of VDA_AIAG we expected thaht the FMEA "Risk" tab shall contain

With ability to click and navigate to the elements in specific cell.

I created an scripted profile property for FEMA worksheet that basically prints out the AP summary. Before and after Taken actions.
Side note I think that currently the risk matrix in FMEA is based on values before any action is taken and not revised SEV,OCC and DET

But then I got request to display more detailed overview depending on actual value of Occ,Sev,Det. Including capability to navigate/select elements

Here i struggled a bit with scripting because there is no graphical or tabular output in scripting that could display it and I also failed to utilize the scripted property (Richtext).
So I created a modified checklist workaround solution

at the end of the day i was still to able to emulate the click and navigate to elements feature. Simply because I am not aware about anything that allows cross-referencing to elements but with some label (count of elements) and not actually the full list of elements:)

My next idea was to take look into the BIRT/M2DOC in future whether this is possible but I also i did spend that much time playing with graph/table objects in BIRT:)

Jan, indeed, the same information appears on both cases; it's just a matter of preference. And I also believe I'll go down M2Doc if I further pursue this.

Marian, I appreciate the beautiful idea with the customized checklist. It looks a bit simpler than actually creating a matrix.

Dear scripters,

I did find some time to investigate how to implement the AP matrix through BIRT.
I picked BIRT because I have more experience then with M2DOC and actually i did not know how exactly i can handle the dynamic column/formatting tables in m2doc ( I hnitk thaht there is a mTable java service but i still did not explored the capabilities)

So lets start.
I have used standard fmea_report shipped withi the medini installation package
Program\plugins\de.ikv.analyze.reporting...\reports\fmea_report.rptdesign

Briefly

I have created report 3D matrix variable inside initialize ( Report->Script view->initialize)
I have modified a little bit former RPN and revisedRPN data fields to evaluate AP and collect the information into the APmatrix report variables
Created scripted Data-Set where i filled with matrix variables results Datasted contains SxOxD as rows and every individual row contains count of AP/RevisedAP/APcategory for specific SxOxD combination
Created data-cube based on the result dataset ( used data-Set open and fetch script)
Inserted a Cross-tab element with grouping and highlighting rules

Here is the result .

To be honest it still need some further speed optimization because the current nested tables in the report are taking some time (FMEA with ~1300 entries took 7 minutes) while I think that I need to collect only the specific content (FMEA::CauseEntry in the FMEA worksheet )
point-for further improvements:

Create a customized dataset and OCL query so one should be able to find evaluate and the severity/occurrence/detection (also the revised->accessed from fialureCause.currentDesignControls) in a list /table for instance
Currently I have to use 2 cross-tabs for AP and Revised AP. but i still need to think if I can create a cross-tab with combined information.( probably create a duplicated datsetRow for occurrence to create another column dimension
Currently the report shows matrix by a single occurrence/det and severity. I need to see if there is an option to crate decrease the matrix size and instead of having a resulting table [9*9;9] where rows are SEVxDET) and columns columns for OCC. Ultimately i would like to have dimensions based on grouped ratings so [5*5;5]
Check if it would it be possible to access the risk matrix FMEA UI through scripting and crate this summary with pure OCL/JavaScript using Execute inside medini

Dynamic columns is indeed bit tricky with M2Doc, but speed should not be a problem anymore (that was one of the obvious reasons, why we are moving away from BIRT.

Anyway, I am not quite sure myself how to replicate that report with pure M2Doc

Hi all!

I have jsut realized i did not attach the report. Silly me so here it goes and use it at your own AP risk:)

Regarding M2Doc. I would say the dynamic dimension should not be any issue. In fact the dimensions (columns/rows) ar already defined by the AP risk matrix as in VDA-AIAG.
One should only solve the formatting and information gathering in the table so several statements inside every table cell are needed.
So in theory combination of some smart functions and templates should do the trick.
Obviously there is an another alternative to code custom service function utilizing MTable.And I believe this one supports formatting and merging features. For the time being we need to use bind but maybe in future it would be part of the environment.

Hi Marian,

Indeed, apart from the merged cells that should be doable in M2Doc (Word file, then). Color formatting would then be "text background" instead of "cell background" (limitation of Word table styles), but if that would be ok, then I do not see an issue.

Specific service for tables (like in Sample #F) could do it even with merged and background-colored cells, if the optical impression is more relevant.

Hi mfassina,

The reason why you see the error is because you tried to use the attached javascritlib.js in the medini execute command.

The purpose of the attached library is to create a service functions for the BIRT report template.

So, I suggest that you take those files ( javascript._ib.js & fmeareportAP.rptdesign) and copy them inside of the project config/reports/BIRT folder
Note: if the sub-folders reports, BIRT do not exist go ahead and create them.

To complete the information, you also need to copy into the same location the analyze_data_set_library.rptlibrary file.
This is usually provided by ANSYS and located inside of the Medini installation. $Medini_INSTALL_DIR$\Program\plugins\de.ikv.analyze.reporting_***\reports
So you will end up having all three files copied under the project/config/reports/BIRT

Important note if you are using 2024R1+ please read the following article by Nils; because it changes the philosophy on how the Medini treats the external documents and files including the script and report templates.

The while in Model browser select the FMEA worksheet and navigate to the Report -> and select Genrate Custom Report or you should eventually see the report appearing directly on the context menu list.
