How to rename the dynamically created tabs of an excel workbook?

Hi,

I have an excel report design where sheets are dynamically created and sheet names are assigned according to script defined in "Item Expression" in TOC in group details.Here i want to ask how to insert ascending index number as prefix to each of the created sheets.

Example:

01-SheetName

02-SheetName

03-SheetName and so on.

I actually do not know a good answer to that question. If the index correlates to entries in the data set, yes, putting the sequence into / or getting it from the DS sounds reasonable. Maybe you can use a global report variable as well.

Hi Ayhan,

I am not sure about which report you are talking, is it your own report design? I did also not get the idea of index number, its basically how you derive the name for a sheet, right? Please check https://medini.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/topics/1000108639, I guess there we shortly tackled how to define a name of an Excel sheet if you generate a BIRT report to Excel.

Hi Jan,

Yes I've designed my own BIRT report to Excel. There, it exists a table which contains groups defined for recursive table creation at each different Excel sheet. For giving names to sheets I created an expression at Item Expression part in the group edit details shown as attached. Here there exists some expressions getting data from already created data sets. By this expression I'm able to give names to each of the created sheets like;

POI-abc, POI-def, SIG-abc etc.

What I want to ask is how can I insert a prefix at the beginning of the name of a sheet showing the sequence of that sheet? Then the sheet names will appear like;

01-POI-abc, 02-POI-def, 03-SIG-abc etc.

Do I have to keep the sequence of that sheet in the data set also and then read that value via the expression? Or Birt could give me an opportunity to append sheet sequence number automatically without the need to keep the sequence number of a sheet in a data set?
