Master reporting over multiple projects

Question

Hello,

I have created a report into a given project, for which some data are coming from other project.

I have set different DataSources (one per project) and then created associated datasets.

Items from external project (external Data sources) are not displayed (like there are no data) when I generate my report while when I check through "preview results" these same items are correctly displayed.

Do you have any reason for that behavior?

Hello Romain,

I at least can say, that we do not support that officially yet. What exactly happens at runtime with the OCL coming from these two external data sources. They are just empty?

One proposal: We inject the some scripting objects as "Global" (known from scripting) into the Report scripting engine as well. With that it should be possible to access all projects in the workspace also from scripts in reporting. However, that's for JS nit OCL, so the solution would ave to use a non-OCL scripted data source.

Did you have any additional answers on that topic?

So do you confirm that the conclusion is "we cannot use OCL sources from other project to generate report through Birt?" --> not a a satisfaisant answer for me but I have live with it and find another way.

By the way I am not understand why there is this kind of limitation as both external project are opened and Birt can access to its data (even display it into the preview).

I am looking for the day where we will have right to get cross project access because for now it is a big limitation for our works.

Hm, absolutely not. The solution you are using above should not work at all :-)

Binding the datasource to a project is *only* for design time, not for runtime. I am confused that it works at runtime but I also have some doubts here.

I remember a similar issue (binding the data source to a certain project here in teh ofurm) which also showed a strange behaviour.

I need to talk to some other guys.
