PDF Hyphenation Issue

Hello,

When a report is generated in a docx format, all the words look just fine. But I noticed that there is a hyphenation issue when exporting to PDF, as presented in the image below :

I was wondering if there is a method to fix this hyphenation and just keep the full word.

Is this your own report template or any existing one? or is it "just" a table report?

It is a report I built from scratch using Flexisko items. It contains multiple elements, not only tables, and the hyphenation issue appears in multiple places. This table screenshot is just for reference.

Ok, got it. Could you anyway tell which specific table that is? I need to check the FLEXSIKO library.

Its a bit strange, because usually there is no wrap inside words.

Hello !

As I see, the table isn't really Flexisko specific. It is just a regular BIRT Table Item.

This hyphenation issue (or wrapping, as you called it), seems to appear not only in tables, but also in other elements, therefore I think I am missing some other settings related to BIRT Reporting (?). Here is a screenshot of some text in a regular BIRT Label Item :

I tried various settings for word wrapping, but nothing seems to solve it .

Ah, how is this text coming into the report, via text in the checklist or via text from a txt file or via text from a rich text/markupn file?

This text in particular is added directly into the report.

But it also happens for txt files, or Medini Checklists.

Yes, there is an update, sorry that I did not post it earlier.

We intentionally enabled that option on the PDF generation (some time ago). Main reason at that time was to fix an issue when a cell in a table contains very long single words which would not break nicely due to missing space in a cell.

The option (which is available in the BIRT PDF generator) fixes that issue but obviously implies the not so nice issue you recognized.

We are currently trying to find a solution that makes both scenarios nice.

Any idea from your end? Maybe an option in the report wizard or something a design can overwrite?

Or just enable the flag if this is "a table export"?

Note that this option is currebtly hard coded, no chance to fix it in the report design, I am sorry,

An update on this one: we certainly will provide a patch in the next service pack, that means 22.1.1 (22.1.0 is about to be released in January, 22.1.1 is not scheduled yet but March is a tentative plan. The patch will introduce a new option in the report wizard to switch this option on and off, default is off.
