Requirements ordering in Report same as in the Requirement Model of Medini Project

Hello,

I would like to get the following result in a BIRT report.

I organize the requirements in a certain ordering inside the Medini Project, that reflects how to display them both in Medini project and inside the report generated with BIRT.

When I generate the custom report instead, the requirements appear ordered according to an unknown criterion (if not previously set something inside the "Sorting" tab from the Report Design perspective).

I already tried to exploit the Sorting tab using the available properties, but they do not actually let me get what I need: requirements order in report should reflect the order applied inside the project.

Do you have any suggestion to get this result?

Please try the following in the OCL data set:

Use SafetyRequirement also as Context type
Change the query to "self"

Lets see whether that makes it better. Do you have large structured trees or a flat list of requierements?

There is no order attribute but the order could be "reverse" engineered from the parent as a custom attribute.

That's tricky but not impossible (if the first approach does not work)

just to confirm: you are working on your own custom report, right? And you have no own sorting criteria, neither in the data source nor the report element (list, grid, ..)?

And you want to reflect the order as seen in the modle browser (native order), not from any table viewer, right?

Hm, strange, I thought that exactly that order is shown in the report. If not, then somehow on the line from data to report a not-ordered set is used

instead of an ordered one and the order seems to be lost.

I have not a good idea yet how to solve this.

Hi Jan,

yes i'm working on a custom report that aims to export the requirements in word to reflect the ordering that is defined in Medini Model Browser.

I'm not using any sorting criteria neither in the data source nor in the report element (Grid, list, etc).

The dataset is created starting from OCLDataSource with medini project as input, using the OCL query:

SafetyRequirement.allInstances(), see attached image for details

Maybe the medini model ordering is lost here, any advice on how to keep the ordering?

Or maybe is possible to extract the medini modeling ordering from an attribute?

From the preview attributes i'm not able to find any but maybe with a more complex query or a computed column?

using the suggested changes:

"Use SafetyRequirement also as Context type AND

Change the query to "self" "

fixed the problem.

Now the exported requirement has the same ordering as in the requirement model.
