Render external excel documents in report

Hi,

in our medini projects we typically add some external Excel document to improve some requirements contents and link this external document to the requirement with a custom profile attribute.

In this way we are able to link an Excel table to a requirement, to explain in a organized way the safety requirement content (for example a state event matix).

We would like to render the Excel table also in the BIRT report.

I've seen in this article:

that is possibile to render external images in reports, is there a way to render an Excel table?

Also a simplified approach is ok, for example just open the Excel table and extract the text content of each non null rows and columns

Hi Samuele,

well, technically I could think of a solution, I even remember that BIRT has a builtin data source for Excel.

However, you would need to (1) locate and traverse to the Excel in medini, (2) open it with the right BIRT data source

and bind a certain data set (scripted?) to your table in BIRT.

That sounds very challenging, yet not impossible.
