Installation of BIRT for 2020 R1

The next major tool release 2020 R1 is coming, only the official announcement from ANSYS is pending. We will post a number of articles in he next days and weeks to explain the impact on scripting and reporting here in the forum.

Some of you guys have already downloaded the latest version or are using the beta. Note that we have no official 2020 BIRT add-on yet but are working on it.

Technically the "old" 19.x add-on should still work, though there is one additional installation step necessary.

Since 2020 R1 the eclipse package is "sealed", meaning the tool is not looking for new packages automatically as it was doing for any predecessor. Go to the "configuration" folder in the installation and open the config.ini file. There is a line

org.eclipse.update.reconcile=false

Remove it and you are done.

could you give some more information on the used Jira version, cloud vs. on-site installation and on the URL that was used to access it?

Also authentication might be an issue, some companies use weird SSO solutions.

So the customer is using Jira Cloud. Because it is cloud installation it is the newest release, so there isn’t a version number.

Well, it seems that recently a very new bug was found that seems related, see https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Core-questions/JSONObject-quot-name-quot-not-found/qaq-p/1306323 and https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/JIRA-REST-API-missing-parameters/qaq-p/1302944. So it seems that there is now a difference between cloud and server (on.site) Jira which the connector cannot handle, Developers are not amused, and so we are,

I will observe this further but do not see a short term solution.

Then I have followed the first steps you suggest (Create new report > Copy/paste Data source from existing template), but now I am a little bit confused for the next steps...

How to create Data Set? It seems that only "Scripted Data Set" type is available while there are other types mentioned in the tutorial. And if I select "Scripted data set", I don't understand what I am supposed to do to access to the project data through the Output columns definition...

Do you have any additional tutorial on that first steps?

I assume you copied only the Scripted Datasource, so now you are only able to create scripted data sets.

I suggest to also copy the OCL data source, maybe from the safety_goals_report.rptdesign or any example in this forum.

I suggest to also copy data sets the same way so you do not start from screatch.

Romain, are you referring to the Preview in the Data Source dialog or the HTML or other Preview for the report?

The later is not part of the distribution due to some conflicts with our tool.

Ah, okay. That one indeed is not working because of some technical issues with the BIRT HTML preview (which is used internally here).

It has some conflicts with other medini bundles so we had to disable it, I'm sorry.
