Single line in table for any cause of a malfunction

Hello Jan,

I´m listing my main malfunctions in the left column of a table in my report design.

The OCL-Dataset of malfunctions implements the entry "causedBy", which contains the causing malfunctions.

If I bind the "causedBy"-entry to the right table column, the malfunctions appear after reporting as a long string, where each malfunction is separated by comma.

Is there any possibility to put a separate list into the right column of my table and list the malfunctions, that there is one single malfunction-name per line of the list?

Hi Jakob,

I finally found some time to prepare a sample, hope it became not too complex. What I did:

* I created a DS data set for Hazard (Ds = Dynamic Dataset), just the metaclass + DS suffix + some atributes -> filled automatically by medini at runtime
* I did the same for FailureModes
* I created a separate XDS data set for the "causedBy" reference. That reference is a derived reference between any failure and its causes based on the failure net so medini offers here a list of objects that are causes for a failure
* XDS data sets always must have a "source" and a "target" column (both string) which will contain the UUID of the object
* XDS MUST also have a "source" parameter, think of filling the source with a hazard UUID and you will get all target causes UUIDs
* with that in hand I created a "Joined dataset" based on the causedByXDS and the FailureMode because the targets of my reference are failure modes in my simple world
* finally the report has a table of hazards and in the last column for each hazard a list of its causes, feeding the UUID of the hazard as "source" to the joined dataset

Hope that explains a bit how the XDS data set was meant to be used :-)

I don´t get the options you told.

I wanted to try with the third XDS-Option, but I don´t know where to start. Can you give me an example for the causedBy-Entry of the malfunctions?

My first thought would be a separate data set for malfunctions which is joined with the functions via "causedBy" relation. Then using the joined data set for a separate table. That theory. In practice its more difficult because joining doe snot really work nicely with medini objects.

An alternative is to derive a computed column, maybe a comma separated list of the malfunction names that are in "causedBy" and then use an approach as in the attached example: feed the CSV list into a generic CSV data set and use that in a separate table.

Third option is to use an XDS data set for causedBy, see slide 29 of the training deck I posted a while back here in the forum.
