Hi,

I am new at the birt design, sorry for the elementary question:

I added FTA events and models into my report. There are two data set, FTA Event and FTA model data sets. There are two table in my layout, one is table of all fta events and the other is the table of all FTA models.

Like:

FTA model1

FTA model2

Event e-1

Event e-2

Event e-3

Event e-4

Event e-5

Event e-6

However I want to gather them in only one table. I mean there will be an FTA models table which has another table in one of its cell which is table of all events for the corresponding FTA model. Like

FTA model 1

-> Event e-1 of FTA model 1

-> Event e-2 of FTA model 1

-> Event e-3 of FTA model 1

FTA model 2

-> Event e-4 of FTA model 2

-> Event e-5 of FTA model 2

-> Event e-6 of FTA model 2

Sound like a combination of joined data set and grouping, maybe have a look at https://medini.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/topics/1000092938 (for grouping).

You may also avoid the joined data set and just add an additional attribute in the Event DS that returns the name of the enclosing FTA model then use that attribute for grouping.

Thank you Jan. Those are quiet helpful. Additional attribute solves the issue.

There is actually another point irrelevant from reporting, it is about FTA:

Probabilities of some events are calculated via some equations with dynamic variables. Where is the best place in medini to implement those equations? For example: Probability of a signal depends on intensity of traffic and number of road. ProbabilityofSignalEvent1 = intensity1 x numberofroad1. This intensity and numberofroad variables are changable for every signal. Beside there are other equations for other events' probabilities, for example probability of existence of vehicle depends another equations. Is there any place to put those variables (dynamically, modifiable during analyses) and calculate probabilities like in the excel equations? Show all equations, variables and calculations in a worksheet?

Well, this feature is still experimental, mainly due to the fact that the support for the script is limited.

If you for example use expressions, that's quite close to failure rate expressions, but you cannot access any variable at the element for example.

If you use java script, you can on he other hand access custom scripted properties and also variables (with some navigation effort though),

however variables are not "prepared" by the evaluation environment but merely strings that the script has to evaluate.

So my proposal would be to define such things as custom properties at the event or the referenced element

and try to solve it with a java script that reads those values (maybe using parseFloat or java.math.BigDecimal.

I remember another article here in the forum asking similar things, maybe you search first.
