Hi,

I want to set trace "Kind" (type) depending of the source and/or target.

E.g. If a characteristic is traced to an Item, the trace kind shall be "char". If an external link is traced to an Item, the kind shall be "external Link".

I found a lot of help to find traces (Test FinderEx), but not how to modify the "Kind".

Hi Sven,

are you referring to the user interface? That's in the properties sheet of any element, "Trace" tab:

In scripting the right attribute is "type" not kind (maybe bit confusing)

// just an example
var trace = Factory.createRelation(req, sm, Metamodel.traceability.Trace);
trace.type = "Sync";

Hi Sven,

no, that creation was just an example. You can set trace.type = "XX" at the object directly.

However, Metamodel.traceability.trace.type is not correct as this is the Metaclass singleton not the Trace instance.

It is not that easy to get hands on a Trace object as traces are not part of the structure and cant be found via Finder.

There is a method in finderEx.js though named findTraces, you can try:

 foundTraces.forEach(function (t) {

Johan, you should be able to simply set the type attribute, like:

Just a tiny addition related "get the traces".

No need to use finderEx as I was mostly using /*FinderResult*/ Global.getTraces(scope)

so:

// find traces in project ,

var /*Finder|Result*/foundTraces= Global.getTraces(finder.project);

console.log("project with {0} traces",foundTraces.size());

//filter only on req to req, do something

var reqTraces = foundTraces.toArray()

 .forEach(trace => {

Hi ,

A quick question I attempted to create two traces with different trace type ( string) trying to accomplish similar SysMLDependency/SysMLAbstraction relation with different 'stereotype'.

At the end of the script I got a sanity checker failure stating double traces detected A,B.

does it mean that the trace.type is not considered as a differentiation similarly like in case of SysMLDependcy orSysmlAbstraction and steretype ?

Is there any reason why having two traces between A&B but different type?
I guess this Trace situation is different for ma Sysml links because the type can e be modified by the user through UI at any time -> and might result in the 2 traces with the same type ?

Marian, only one trace is allowed between two objects no matter the type. I wonder how you did it, because the factory.js should stop you from creating multiple. Anyway, that's a limitation as the moment.

thanks for the confirmation.

PS: I did not have to sweat a single hack, there is ignoreDoubleTraces at Factory Object so that one allowed me to create a multiple traces.
