Addition of Failure Rates in FMECA

I am currently working on adding the FIT rates of all hardware components to an FMECA worksheet. My objective is to calculate the individual FIT rates for each component and then aggregate them into a separate column.

For example, I have 10 components in my hardware architecture, and I have calculated the FIT rate for each of these components individually. I would like to know if there is a way to sum all the component FIT values, as shown in the attached image, and store the total in another column of the FMECA worksheet.

If anyone could guide me on how to achieve this, it would be very helpful

Hi Jan

I currently have a flat list of components in my FMECA worksheet. To calculate the overall failure rate for all components, I have written the attached script.

Could you please review it once and let me know if any improvements or corrections are required?

Well, summing them up should be easy, the question is rather, how much structure do you have in your architecture. If you have a flat list of components, you can sum it up in the worksheet and show on the coversheet. If you have top level components or intermediate components, you may sum it up there.
