Dear ANSYS team,

Bit far-fetched, I know, but I wonder if there is some

perspective in having some kind

of primitive Simulink functionality in medini.

Like some blocks you drag and drop, build a simple model and

start some simulation.

If not, is there any library one can use from within medini javascript

which is able, for example, to present a scientific plot windows from data

being generated and offer some

interaction with the user (like input box, sliders, start/pause button, etc).

In the past I've done something similar with Excel/VBA, it might be also possible

with medini javascript if some graphical library could be accessed.

No support for your first idea I think.

We have the JFreeChart library on-board which may help with your second idea, so a plit should be feasible with that.

We use it to render the probability of an FTA event.

But that has no interactions

Is there a connection between Simulink and Medini? Importing Simulink models into Medini perhaps?

Hi Johan,

there are indeed two functions, one is the native Simulink importer which was marked deprecated a while ago but still is there and need to be switched on in the preferences. The fucntion basically imports SLX files and represents them as Simulink models in the browser, not much support, just fault tree derivation and tracing.

The second fucntion is the scripted importer which also offers SLX import but transforms it into SysML + update.

I forgot to mention that the "native" importer is only available at "Software" packages. The scripted importer though is available in all packages.

Hello Johan,

so far we have no direct or indirect support for that. Both mentioned importer functions use a deciated parser to parse SLX files into an EMF representation, that does not mean can generate SLX files out of EMF Simulink models on our side. However, SLX files are AFAIK similar/same as MS Office documents, so basically ZIP files containing content and metafiles, it even follows the same "openxmlformats" spec I think. Not sure someone could use POI to handle the ZIP and meta stuff.

Maybe a starting point?
