Custom column for indicating if the component is function safety related or not

Hello,

I would like to create a custom column in the DFMEA that indicates if a particular failure mode of a component is marked as "It can violate safety goal' or "Multiple failures violates safety goal" or "No impact on safety".

I want the column to automatically extract this information from FMEDA worksheet.

Is this possible?

Thank you for your response.

To clarify, we typically maintain a single FMEDA covering multiple safety goals, along with one Hardware Electrical DFMEA. Both the DFMEA and FMEDA are based on the same BOM and hardware architecture, and they are linked inherently.

As part of our consistency checks between the FMEDA and the severity ratings in the DFMEA, we are considering introducing a column to indicate whether a potential failure mode is classified as a single-point fault, latent fault, or not safety-related.

Hi kepin,

the short answer is: definitely possible. But you should think about how the relation between DFMEA and FMEDA is going to happen as a medini project may contain multiple DFMEA but also multiple FMEDA, so the failure mode may occur multiple times in different sheest with may eben contradicting results. You may explicitly link the FMEDA to the FMEA by Trace or by a custom reference for example to make that clear. Othe than that you probabal can navigate from the FMEA FailureMode entry to the failure mode using .element) and from their to all other DCFailureModeENtry elements using cross referencer, so "mediniGetOpposites("element")" , filtering that by DCFailureModeEntry. Once there, you can start to dig into the data of the entry or its component entry.
