Imports elements from EA to Medini

Question

Hello,

I have a script that imports
elements from EA to Medini. If a new element is added to the Enterprise file,
running my script again creates it without issue in Medini. However, if I delete an
element in EA, it isn't removed from Medini. I'd like to add this function.

Do you know how?

Hi Sandra,

that was really just pseudo code, no such method exists. However, the code would probably look like:

var model = ... // maybe selection[0];
var existing = Global.getFinder(model).findByType(Metamodel.sysml.SysMLPart).toArray();

That returns all parts in the model as an array. If you look also for ports and other things, maybe SysMLElement would be better.

Is the findExistingElements() function an existing one, or do I have to configure it myself?

If I need to create it, do you have any ideas on how to do it?

Hi Sandra, without providing realy script code, I can imaging the following (as pseudo code)

// prepare an array that contains all elements in the imported model, empty for initial import
var existing = findExistingElements();

// do the normal import, mostlikely using findOrCreate...

// remove any element that was created from the "existing" array
// if it is new nothing is harmed, if found, it is removed from the array

// now the array contains only elements that were created before but not during this run

// remove all elements from the array using trashbin

There are of course a few things to conside like, do you want to allow the user to add elements which shall not be removed? In that case you need to distinguish between imported elements and custom created.

You may use an annotation or simple a tag.
