[Renumbering] How to define the format of Renumbering

Hello Medini Expert

(This is my first consultation in here, please let me know if there are any wrong.)

We have one question when we using the function of "Renumbering".

About Renumbering, we already get the code form Hirain engineer how to define the prefix to make the functional number can be numbered as we defined prefix.

But this will make the format of prefix is fixed. And now, we defined different name for each system level of function, like"F-L1-xxx", "F-L2-001-xxx". So the result will change the "F-L2-001-xxx" to "F-L1_xxx" after Renumbering.

We want know how to renumbering and do not change the prefix like "F-L1" or "F-L2-001".

How can it be implemented through scripts?

For reference only:

just personal thinking, if we can add a judge to confirm the prefix, maybe we can according the result of judge to Renumbering.

I played a bit with the existing code and ended up with this: basically two methods, one just overwrites the ID (same as now), the second checks for any existing prefix:

function newId_bruteForce(f, counter) {
	f.id = ("F" + counter);
}

function newId_keepPrefix(f, counter) {
	// assume that prefix is separated by "-"
	var lastSep = f.id.lastIndexOf("-");
	if (lastSep == -1) {
		// no prefix
		console.log("Function {0} has no prefix, overwrite", f.id);
		f.id = ("F" + counter);
		return;
	}

	var prefix = f.id.substring(0, lastSep); 
	console.log("Function {0} has prefix {1}, keep it", f.id, prefix);
	f.id = prefix + "-" + counter;
}

welcome to the forum. Before proposing any script solution, I would like to better understand the current situation.

You wrote that "get the code", did you get any renumber script already? Or are you referring to plain "medini Auto Counter patterns".

Not sure here. The second point: so you have existing function identifiers, some have a small prefix like "F-L1", other have a longer like "F-L2-001"

and you want to keep this prefix by all means, right? So the renumbering should only work on last part of the existing id, so after the "last -",

is that understanding correct?

Ah, sorry my fault, I was reading the article but did not see the image at all in the first place.

Now its clearer. That code originates from a script that was once written to renumber FTA events.

I will come up with some snippet that may help you to fix your issue.

Hello Malav,

if you follow Help -> Online Support Page and then go to "Sample Projects" under "Tutorials and Examples". There is a sample named "SOTIF Demo Project Highway Pilot" and that includes many renumbering scripts, among others also one named "Renumber Hazardous Events.js".
