Generate variant in DCWorksheet by scripting

Question

Hello all,

Is it possible to gnerate a variant in DCWorksheet by scripting?

In my case, I have a DCWorksheet with variants and I want to clone/transfer these variants into another DCWorksheet.

My understanding is that I should generate a variant object (Metamodel.FMEA.Variant) in to the DCWorksheet scope. But I can't see something in the factory.js for this purpose.

I assume there is another approach for variants than for safety goals, because safety goals are "globally" available whereas I assume that variants are "local" to DCWorksheet.

Do I miss something here?

PS: I still have 2022R1. Maybe this could be some source of problems.

Strangely I never reacted to this request, looks like a duplicate of FMEDA Variants - creation/deletion with script/factory.js : Ansys medini analyze Support. In that article I now reacted and posted a factory.js that supports the creation of Variant objects in DC sheets.

thanks for the quick response and the clarification.

I'm currently checking with our IT and tool responsible person when we will upgrade to 2022 R2.1. We are currently very behind the actual versions.

Hi Michael,

in fact you are right - at the current state, variants reside locally in an DC Worksheet and not globally like safety goals ... we envisage at some point later in time to shift this potentially towards the architecture models. For that reason also variant-creation is currently not supported by the factory/finderEx library. That implies that manual work is required to add the variants to a DC Worksheet.

PS: It definitely needs to be 2022R1.1 or later for scripting related to variants in DC worksheet (e.g. accessing metrics results as in your other article)
