Hierarchy information for FMEAs

Hello,

I've been asked how one could preserve the hierarchy information of an FMEA during an export (via the "Generate table report" button at the top right).

A simple method is to display the hierarchy information as a number string (divided by a point for each level deeper) with a derived property. This can then just read or even further used by VBA scripts on Excel level.

The following script does the job, if used in a derived profile property named "user_hierarchy" for the "Component/Function (derived FMEA and SWA only)" profile:

Only drawback is that the profile property is correctly calculated for packages themselves, but not displayed in an FMEA. So the "headings" don't have that information printed.

Hi this is Min.

I am sharing a variation based on Nils' "Hierarchy information for FMEAs"

My variation is for FMEDA. But it can be applied any worksheet.

as you know, medini is agnostic w.r.t the kind of 'FMEA'. so SWA, FMEA, FMEDA any worksheet.

#1 if you want to index serial in a nice way, try this.

I set this variable as 'user_index'

#3. last one with name

- You need to use #1's profile. this profile name must be set as 'user_index' or 'user_index_indent'

- this will display indented index serial and and its component name, Try this.

It should works.

and I've found that it's not easy to handle the index serial and component name simultaneously within a single profile. As an alternative, I made this #3 approach, combining both serial index and name. The index serial column can be hidden in the worksheet.

Hi Guru,

Dependent on your "Kind" selection on the FMEA "Cover" tab system model elements may be shown or not (in your case "Function" FMEA hides elements and types). There is direct way to identify the visibility via script, so unfortunately that's not possible to consider in the numbering. They are still part of the List the script is using for indexing.

The only thing you could try is to sort the invisible elements to the bottom - not in the SysML model, but in the FMEA Worksheet part of the model browser (the ComponentEntries representing the SysML elements). Note: Ordering these ComponentEntries across hierarchy levels currently causes a small confusion of the displayed hierarchy in the model browser- that's just a display issue, which is correct again after freshly opening the project.

For the first column in the export: True, that has to be the Component/Function, Hierarchy has to come second. You can switch the order afterwards in the Excel, if you want.

Hi Nils,

One more identification.

After excel export, Hierarchy and Component/Function are coming at same column

I guess we need to keep Component/Function first column (instead of Hierarchy)
