I have been
recently doing some script and Template maintenance and come to a point where I
wanted to see the difference of external documents or the Compare differences directly
in medini.
This is
especially annoying when having some Collaboration projects as the Difference
Browser will not show you the document content difference but rather a Date and
size difference.
So doing a compare
documents in a VS code or other tool ( meld, total commander) was quite a heavy
work, even for case with a local project copy.
So I created
a tiny gadget that will focusing on difference real file content, and all
directly within the Medini cockpit.
The next
thing that come to my mind => OK Would it be possible to extend the functionality
of this gadget to compare any External Document present in Medini Project ?
Answer was
Yes of course, the gadget support comparing two external documents form a same
project.
The next question,
Could it support to compare content of documents between any open Medini
Project ?
Answer was yes
and the gadget supports this.
currently the
script is focus on a Documents that might have a reviewable/editable text content
=> excluding Office files , Images etc.
Here is the
overview of supported file suffixes:
".js",".json", ".txt",
".md", ".xml", ".xmi", ".csv", ".mapping",
".html", ".htm", ".css", ".rptdesign",".rptlibrary".
Note nothing
prevent you from comparing docx or pictures b if you like to compare Byte
