Creating checklists via script

I recently heard about a use case that perfectly could be solved by creating a checklist via a script. The use case requires to create the list, checklist tasks and also sub-tasks. I was curious whether we actually support this use case already and started with a small script. I successfully created the list and top level tasks but unfortunately recognized that there is an issue with the creation of sub-tasks still.

Please find attached my sample script. Line 18-20 are commented, they do not work with the latest version of the factory.js.

Once we fixed that, I will repost stuff here.

There is an update now on this one: scripts now can create checklist items inside other items so basically can create structured checklists. See the updated example here and check the site where we publish the libraries.

I am trying to create a checklist. The issue that have is how to initilize and add element to artifacts[] by scripting. I copy the lines where I see the error.

Hi Ali,

note that medini attributes with 0..* are *lists* and not JS arrays, so you cant use "push" but "add":

item1.artifacts.add(events.get(i));

should work

Yes it is possible. IThe support was addedsince certain revision of factory.js

One need to provide additional context object argument to the Factory.createElement ().

The trick here is the argument shall be object with template attribute referencing to a Checklist metaobject

Example: the project has the checklist template defined with name "DFA v template v 1.0";

First use finder to locate the Checklist instance matching the checklist name
Then call the Factory with additional argument

The skeleton could look like this

// dont ofrget to load the factory.js library file..
//... 
var templateName = "DFA template v 1.0";
var templateChecklist = finder.findByType(Metamodel.checklist.Checklist).and("name",templateName);
if (templateChecklist.size()==1 && templateChecklist.first() instanceof Metamodel.checklist.Checklist) {
 //got some !!
 var context={template:templateChecklist.first()};
 var chckList = Factory.createElement(scope,Metamodel.checklist.Checklist,context);

If one is interested
to apply only Project defined Checklist Template then those are located
under specific hidden Project package.

So to get the list of only Project Checklist Templates one can use something like:
