Example of importing additional SysML attributes from XML files (Enterprise Architect, Cameo)

Hi,

I would like to share an example of how one can import additional SysML model elements via script, which are not imported by the standard importer. This example uses an .xmi file (so XML) exported from Enterprise Architect, which is searched for Use Cases together with their links/traces (and actors). These elements are then added as Functions, traces and Actors within the already imported SysML model.

Note that the script is specific for this exact application, but if you are familiar with medini scripting, you can adapt it for other use cases if required.

For a similar use case, I would like to share a script for Cameo.

What it does: For ActivityParameterNodes, earlier versions of medini didn't import types and direction, which looks weird in medini, if you didn't define a name in Cameo. The script replaces the name of these ActivityParameterNodes in an already imported CAMEO model by "<direction> : <name of type>". Information is taken directly from the selected .mdzip file.

How to use: 

1. Extract the zip file contents into your project's "scripts" folder

2. Re-open your project in medini

3. Select the already imported CAMEO SysML model > right-click > Execute > importAdditionalCameoProperties

4. Select the .mdzip file

5. Wait shortly, then your data should be there (best seen if you open a relevant diagram before the script execution)

Note: This is a functionality, which is natively included in medini from 2023 R2 onwards. So if you are just interested in the feature, not the scripting details, please upgrade to that version as soon as possible.
