Hook to find the top event in a FTA diagram

Hello everyone,

Previously we had only one diagram per FTA model and we were able to access the top event of a diagram with this hook :

diag.canvasElement.rootNodes[0].event

Now that we have multiple diagram per FTA model, this doesn't work anymore (rootNodes is a FTA model element).

I think I can access the top event by doing something complicated like

diag.diagram.children[0].element

But I am not sure that children[0] will always be the top event.

Can you confirm that this will always be the case?

Hi Gerard,

about the first question first: you were accessing the "FTA model" from the diagram, and from theer the root node, any reason why you where starting from the diagram? And even more, why are you *still* starting from a diagram, in the scenario that you know that the node might be on multiple diagramns. I am just asking to understand what the best way of scripting would be. You can also start from the FTA model directly, right?

Second question: that's a bit tricky because the diagrams are in fact not children of the FTA model but of the PJProxyModel in the project. I assume you are searching for all diagrams for a selected FTA? I propose to use "diagram.js" which is floating around in this forum which has functions to search for all diagrams of an object.

On a side note, is it normal that I cannot have the following finder get results when "launched" on the FTA model?
