Requirement validations (measures) by Failure modes trace and FMEA detection actions

Dear All

In Requirement i do a trace to the associate failure mode.

We have scripted columns to see the associate Failure mode and the effects (Feared Events):

self.mediniGetTracedElements(safetyModel::Malfunction).oclAsType(safetyModel::Failure)->union(self.mediniGetTracedElements(safetyModel::FailureMode).oclAsType(safetyModel::Failure))

and

self.mediniGetTracedElements(safetyModel::FailureMode).oclAsType(safetyModel::FailureMode).getProfilePropertyValue('top_level_effect')->union(

self.mediniGetTracedElements(safetyModel::Malfunction).oclAsType(safetyModel::Malfunction).getProfilePropertyValue('top_level_effect'))

Now i want to create a new column to see the measures associate to the Failure modes in the FMEA (detection actions)

Something like this but return is empty :

self.mediniGetTracedElements(safetyModel::Malfunction).oclAsType(safetyModel::FailureMode).measureGroups.detectionMeasures

Hi Philippe,

sorry I am on a business trip and can not out try it out right now. However, looking at your OCL it seems that your oclAsType will not work as you can not convert a Malfunction into a FailureMode - if you really need a conversion at all, it should be oclAsTpe(safetyModel::Failure) - which is the superclass of Malfunction and FailureMode.

Please check also the safetyModel section in the MetaModel Guide.

In the FMEA validations i want to see the detection action (measures) associate to the Failure mode

BTW, actually I asked for the name of the derived property and not the script, but anyway I did some experiments and defined three derived Properties for Requirement:

The first one (green) is showing all failure modes/malfunction to which the requirement is traced, the second one (yellow) is the top-level effect(s) of all traced failure modes/malfunctions and the last one (blue) lists all detection measures related to the places where the failure mode/malfunction is a cause in FMEA.

The OCL for the three properties is below:

user_traced_fmea_fam:

self.mediniGetTracedElements(safetyModel::Malfunction).oclAsType(safetyModel::Failure)->union(self.mediniGetTracedElements(safetyModel::FailureMode).oclAsType(safetyModel::Failure))

user_tle:

self.getProfilePropertyValue('user_traced_fmea_fam').oclAsType(safetyModel::Failure).getProfilePropertyValue('top_level_effect')->asSet()

user_measures:

self.getProfilePropertyValue('user_traced_fmea_fam').oclAsType(safetyModel::Failure).mediniGetOpposites('element')->selectByKind(fmea::CauseEntry)
 .currentDesignControls.element.oclAsType(safetyModel::MeasureGroup).detectionMeasures->asSet()

Note, you may need to adjust the names used in getProfilePropertyValue('user_...') to the names you used for the three properties.

well the example did help: In fact your measures are not attached to FMEA failure modes which you are tracing your requirements to - but to the causes of these failure modes. That does require one additional level of indirection for the access for your user_fmea_validations:

Dear All

now in completion, i want to compilate test results

I have create a new column with

self.getProfilePropertyValue( 'user_fmea_validations')->selectByKind(safetyModel::Measure).user_amc_result

It is ok except in the FMEA if we have Safety Mechanism for MSR FMEA

The script return an error. Safety Mechanism is not a measure

How i can detect if it is a mesure (add an "If" in the script) to do not take into account Safety Mechanism.

user_amc_result would need to be a profile property of Measure - but in the screenshot it looks like you defined it as aproperty of Requirement (?)

This new column works execpt for FMEA MSR lines where we have safety mechanism

Perhaps in "user_fmea_validations", you have a solution to detect only Measure and not MeasureGroup or in "user_amc_results" we can add a test to check if the MeasureGroup is a measure and not a safety mechanism ?

For the moment we don't need to follow results on safety mechanism.

However, if i create the same column and if i put this script :

self.getProfilePropertyValue('user_fmea_validations')->selectByKind(safetyModel::Measure).user_amc_result

-> union(self.getProfilePropertyValue( 'user_fmea_validations')->selectByKind(safetyModel::SafetyMechanism).user_amc_result)

It works when we have only safety mechanisms or measures but not when we have both. I suppose it is because a measure is not a sefety mechanism and vice versa.

We need to have a test to know if it is a measure or a safety mechanism. Or in FMEA validations modify the script to detect only the measures.

you are right it works (but necessary to create same columns in safety mechanisms, i have deactivated). Last issue is link to my merge with another column. It works now with this (for information)
