Does the scripting in Medini support direct reading and writing from text or excel files?

Can we get an example of this functionality if possible?

Hi Tony,

our plan is to stepwise enhance the capabilities of our scripting API. We have defined an initial set of 5 "Capability Sets", simplified its like this:

CS1: API for object manipulation and querying (finder API) ...
CS2: API for object creation, deletion, ...
CS3: Scripting hooks at various places in the tool to enhance tool features (for example import, export, ...)
CS4: Disclose internal APIs to scripting as Excel, Rhapsody...
....

We have released CS1 and support CS2 with a few script libraries (see articles about Factory and Trashbin). Well, and for CS4 we have a similar library to at least import Excel files rather easily. That library was created as a proof of concept fro CS4. So in case you are interested, I would go ahead and post an article together with that library.

Would be ideal if you can test it and report issues, wishes and improvement proposals so we can at some point int time have CS4 public at least for Excel and Word, ...

Hi Jan, thanks for the reply.

I think I understand what you are saying.. in short, CS1 & 2 are within the factory and trashbin and we can already access (which we have) but CS4, needed for the import and export of excel, for example, is not included and you would need to provide that portion of the API for us to make this work, correct?

If that is correct, we would like to go ahead and give it a try and will provide the best feedback we can.

Hi Johan, well we have something that we call a scripted importer, for example for Capella but none for export so we basically do not follow that plan any longer, I'm sorry.
