How to set FTA eventType to INTERMEDIATE

Hi All,

I am currently developing a script to programmatically generate an FTA model with transfer gates to allow the model to be spread out across multiple different diagrams. I am running into this error however when I try to run "Evaluate Fault Tree" from any point in my FTA model:

In my current example I only have one transfer gate and have checked to make sure that there is only one input to said transfer gate:

I know that the evaluation is possible when it's done by hand previously when someone else built a model, but the target event kind was set to INTERMEDIATE? I've been trying to set it in my script to that type since it is included in the enumeration for event.kind, but for some reason it doesn't actually work and get set in Medini. Is this the fix? How can I address this error so that I can begin evaluations on my generated fault trees?

Hi Tom,

tow additional thoughts on this:

* The error says "multiple inputs on the gate", so maybe you should check "Input Nodes" on the gate and not the gate as input 
* I think you cant set INTERMEDIATE as effectiveKind if thzats what you try to do. The "effectiveKind" is calculated automatically anyway, so top level, base and intermediate events are detected by their number of inputs and outputs
* You may set the kind to INTERMEDIATE at the Event though, not the EventNode (note that this is something the user cant do)

Hi Thomas,

As already mentioned here, with scripting, you can do more things with the fault tree model than with the user interface, and can thus also generate non-computable fault trees.

Without having tested it myself, my guess is that you have generated the same connection between the Logical Gate and the Transfer Gate multiple times. The "Related Elements" UI probably only shows a set of input nodes (without duplicates). More helpful for debugging scripts and the generated output is using the "Context Menu > Diagnose > What is this?" command for showing the Attributes view. There multiple inputs should be clearly shown in the list. Please have a look there (maybe share here) and if my guess was right, please check your script code for it.
