[Model browser, FMEDA] Sort by attribute name

Hello,

as I use the attribute <name> for the reference designator in the Hardware Safety Architecture, I'd like to have a function to sort by this attribute.

It seems that the actual sort function works across the whole Model Browser, but I only need this function for specific folders.

My requirements to that function are:

* Possibility to select the attribute for sorting (e.g. Name, Part Number, Type)

* The sorting function needs to consider that the names are like R500, IC1400 (alpha-numeric), 1-2 letters in front, 3-5 digits following

* Possibility to select ascending/ descending

I do not get point number 2, if we sort alphabetically, the naming scheme does not matter,

So any thing you are seeking special here?

Hello to all,

I just want to re-open the topic because I want to use this script from Jan to use the sort function.

Currently this script sorts the components by part number and we will use this for sorting our elements in the components library.

Additional we have import the part list of a system and clustered the components in several groups. But in this groups we would like to sort by the name (e. g. R71).

Example: [xxxxyyyy] R71 : 47K5 0402 1%

So my question is how we can modify the script that we can optionally sort by part number, name, value. The ui.js will start after running the "sort part script" and in that window I would like to enter the desired sort attribute. Is this possible?

generally I think its possible to define more than one attribute to consider when sorting.

However, its not fully clear what the script shall do if sorting by name *and* part number is requested.

Shall be first the part number used and *additionally* the name or only name if no part number exists?

Hi Jan,

this may be an additional topic but, if I have sorted based on the name, can I also create a package based on the first letter of this name like R117 --> Will be shifted below the newly created package "R" and for all other names like v, j, i it should work in the same manner? At the end I have a structured BOM Import Model in the model browser, which was only considering the first letter of the name as separator.

this seems to be a separate topic indeed, here we just talked about sorting, not restructuring BOM imports.

I propose that you open another topic for this, maybe with some small example what you would expect and at which status you are already.

I can not remember, unfortunately. Possibly, at some earlier point I was toying around with how to obtain children in a more generic way. I searched for both variants in my scripts folder and interestingly only found "SortChildDiagrams.js" (ref. https://medini.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/topics/1000096626) that makes use of ".containedElements". hmm...

Sure Patrick, you need to make some adjustments.

For example the line " var list = scope.containedElements; " is specific for sysml or other contaiments, not FTA.

In FTA child nodes are navigated with "children". An the attribute to use for sorting is maybe the id, so "id", not "partNumber".
