Storing Javascript data & functions globally

Question

1) Is it possible to store large chunks of data & functions as a Javascript structure globally, so that it can be accessed by automation or profile scripts (without the need to "load" them each time when they are accessed/invoked)?

2) If the answer to 1) is positive: how can such data structure be set up during project and/or tool initialization time?

Would be interesting to know what kind of data you want to store, Thomas.

Any hint? Is your script computing some intermediate results or is that a kind of "input" to your scripts,

basically you share JS code & data?

Hi Thomas,

Welcome to the forum, and I hope you already discovered the Introduction to Scripting article.

Storage of data to be used by multiple (JS) scripts is not possible, as they are executed independently and we don't have a commonly accessible data object (at least as far as I know) - apart from the medini project itself (which is Java based), like checklists or the different model types and their (profile) properties.

Sharing of functions is possible by including .js files within scripts. This is shown e.g. in the ESL example (Help > Examples > Load ESL sample), where the "Renumber FTA events.js" script loads one of the libraries:

load("~/.lib/ui.js");

If you write your own library .js, you can call it also from other scripts (and even from derived profile properties). I hope that already will help you.
