What happens when trying to modify non-existent fields?

We noticed that one of our script tried to modify a property that did not exist : 

e.g. "selection[0].user_ids = 123" while the object did not have a "user_ids" property (it was called "user_id"), this has not raised errors during the execution.

The script has been used for month and we've now corrected everything, my question is more for understanding if this could have other unwanted effects on the projects (e.g. messing with the integrity etc.)

Hello Gerard,

Java Script is by default quite relaxed in that respect. Enabling the console view in your browser would give you hundreds of errors for any of your daily wep application but usually they just work for you.

I would say its the same for medini, no unwanted side effect I can think of.

If you anyhow want to get attention to that earlier (and I can assume that you want that) you can switch JS into strict mode.

In that mode the code must be much stricter follow the rules (; at the end of an instruction, no redefinition of vars etc etc) and even no access to non existing variables.
