derive ASIL for Port through linked malfunctions

Hi,

I want to see the max. ASIL for each port in a FMEA Worksheet, based on the linked malfunctions (failure mode --> malfunction --> hazard --> SG)

The linked failure mode already has a profile property with the top-level-effect

and the linked Malfunction has a profile property with the max. ASIL.

I want to access the linked malfunction and read out the profile property "max.ASIL"

Hi Sven, how about this simple script:

Hi Sven,

I am not sure I got all point, the port may have multiple failure modes (normal) or have you introduced a separate link to a special failure mode?

Also not sure what your top-level-effect script does (especially in relation to the mentioned malfunction (same?)

Hi Sven,

if I understand your request correctly, I'm unsure if this proceeding would be in accordance to ISO 26262. Certainly there may be reasons to ask for each failure mode of a port: What would be the worst case consequence, and what would be its ASIL? But I would then display this with the failure mode, not the port (there can be multiple failure modes per port, e.g. value too low and value too high. They can be different effects, and hence, different ASILs.

The port itself gets its ASIL capability requirement from the safety requirements related to the kind of information or energy or material passed through this port, and also, more importantly in practice (due to the co-allocation requirement ISO 26262-4, Clause 6.4.6.4) from the ASIL of the component the port belongs to. And this ASIL is not necessarily the one from the hazard that could be consequence of any failure mode at this port. If ASIL decomposition has been applied before, the ASIL of the port can be lower. For instance, some port can need ASIL A(D) capability according to the TSC even if one of its related failure modes can lead to an ASIL D hazard.

Hi Sven, sorry for the delay, so to summarize the (technical) wish:

The failure mode may have cause/effect relations to zero or more malfunctions
The malfunction may or may not have a derived ASIL value
The failure mode now shall derive a max ASIL from all effects (aka malfunctions)

Will try to provide some basic sample which you can adopt.
