Method 'mediniGetTracedElements(type)' returns a list of all elements of type 'type' that are connected to this element by a 'trace'.

And a trace can have a dedicated 'kind'.

Is there a way to access or evaluate the 'kind' of the trace the connects the other element to this element?

Hi Ralph,

there is a second version of this method with the following signature:

mediniGetTracedElements(Object type, String kind)

which I think is exactly what you are looking for. Passing null or undefined has the same effect as using the other method.

if you use the first version of the method (the one with just one argument) you get all traces, no matter what their kid is.

Is that what you want to do? Or do you want to search for the current *potential* values of trace kind?

Sorry Florent, here is what I mean: there are two signature (aka versions) of the method:

self.mediniGetTracedElements(Object type);
self.mediniGetTracedElements(Object type, String kind);

The first returns all traces of all kinds for a given type of traced objects, the second limits it to only those of the given kind.

My requirement has some traces to diverses objects..but I do not know by advance which one..so I would like to get the full list.

Ah, that's indeed a problem, you would have to pass a base class of all of that, "null" or "undefined" is not allowed.

In the TestFinderEx.js I found the following which could be of interest :

foundTraces.forEach(function (t) {
	console.log("Trace kind=''{0}'' from {1} to {2}", t.type, t.sourceElements, t.targetElements);
});

The results is the identification of all traces..but in may case how could I restrict the trace to one requirement as an example ? scope reduction ?

once source element or target element is my requirement of interest ? How it could be extended in a script ?

Very good Florent, that was the missing piece I forgot. The result of this method (findTraces) is a FinderResult so you can continue filtering it like this:

findTraces().filter(function (t) {
 return t.sourceElement.contains(self) || t.targetElements.contains(self);
});

to filter just those traces where self is either source or target.

A last question before the week end. In this case what is the format of findTraces(). A list, an array or ? because later in the script I tried to access the traces using [i] or .get(i) but I never succeed ?

Is there a way to know the format of outcome in general because I have often the issue ?

The result of the method is a so called "FinderResult", so the same thing you get from findByType. You can further reduce the search result by using and() or butNot() or filter()

on it but also asList() or asArray() or forEach(). Hope that helps.

That would be:
