FTA: Delete Subtree from Model Browser

Dear Jan,

if you are looking for a small challenge, would you please consider providing a script that allows to (recursively) delete an event/gate with its subtree from the model browser?

Unfortunately deleting such an item with its contained elements is currently only possible, if

- the item is located on a diagram

- its subtree is restored.

Unfortunately medini repeatedly crashes for me (v2019 R1.1) when doing this "restore subtree" operation for a somewhat large subtree (several hundred gates/events/transfer gates).

A boolean that enables/disables traversing beyond a transfer gate would be appreciated, but isn't necessary. By default the script should stop at a transfer gate by deleting the transfer gate, without modifying the linked tree.

Hi Peter,

you may try the following steps:

1. Select the top-node of the subtree you want to delete

2. Then go into that subtree:

3. Use the +-Icon on top of the model broser to unfold the complete sub-tree

4. Select all entries (Ctrl-a) and then Delete

5. Finally go out using the Back-arrow or the Home-Button on the model browser and delete the top-node (which is still left on the upper level)

This worked like a charm for a small example of mine with 387 selected items :-)

May I kindly suggest to consider such a deletion functionality as a core feature, accessible in a more direct manner in the future?

Ok, - I modified the picture. I just have some final remark: In case virtual folders/grouping is used in that subtree, you have to disable that temporarily before Ctrl-A & delete:

Otherwise the Delete will not take place ( or you de-select all virtual folders .... which is time consuming)
