Add failure modes to a component

I wanted to add failure modes to a component.

I wrote a simple code which adds a failure mode [named as "sample failure mode"] to the selected component.

I am facing a error saying "bind is not defined".

I think i am missing out something basic.

Simply set the failure type after the creation:

e = Factory. ....
e.failureType = Metamodel.safetyModel.FailureType.TRANSIENT;

Hi Aditya,

you are indeed missing a pragma directive in your script, if you check this article.

In short: you have to add this line as the first line:

// $EXPERIMENTAL$ $STRICT_MODE$ $WARNING_AS_ERROR$

The other two pragmas are optional but I suggest to have them to write better code.

I just wanted to add a failure mode to a particular selection.

I can imagine, that the selected element cannot hold a failure mode. Note that only Sysml elements (Failables) can hold a failure.

So make sure the selection[0] is such an element. If its a Component Entry in FMEA/DC you have to navigate to the element, so basically

selection[0].element

Its always advisable to make some sanity checks.

I am able to remove safety mechanism for a failure mode, but not able to assign it from safety mechanisms library using scripting.

Well, scripting the DC worksheet is tricky and has to consider the DC settings on cover page.

Another tricky part is that the SM is attached to the failure mode and the DC just may filter it (ot not).

Maybe you first create one manually and the observe it using the scripting views to see what you have to replicate.
