Excel Formatting

Hey,

as I noticed, the native table export in Medini supports some sort of styling (e.g.: Coloring cells, formatting height/width, ...).
Is there any way to access them through a script or by scripting using the native Java Library?

If possible it would be great to either have an example or have some sort of documentation.

Hi Florian,

right now it's not possible to directly format cells, i.e. background color, borders or font styles from Javascript.

Nevertheless these styles can be defined in a template MS Excel sheet, that contains a 'style' worksheet, where cells are fomatted using MS Excel styles.

First of all, the template woshould be copied and used as the output workbook when the Excel exporter is run.

The styles can be read on the Stylesheet

style style_x = getstyles(string style_sheet_name, int row, int colum);

// Ansys: actual function reading the styles
function getstyles(sheet, row, column){
 //get the cell format
 var cell_address=cellAddress(row, column);
 var style = sheet.getRow(row).getCell(column).copyOnlyStyle(); 
 return style;
}

The Style can then be set by

sheet.getRow(row).getCell(column).copySettings(style style_x);

This applies all the style settigns of the style that was read from the cell to the new cell.

Another strong formatting option is the cell merge function:

//get the upper left cell
var c1 = cellAddress(upperleft_row, upperleft_column);
//get the lower right cell
var c2 = cellAddress(lowerright_row, lowerright_column);
//create the merged cell definition
var mergedCell = sheet.createMergeCell(c1,c2);
// merge the cell
sheet.addMergeCell(mergedCell);

Up to sort out is to set or copy the column width and hight. This is something I struggled with until now. This could be either copied from a reference sheet or hopefully set directly.
