Question

Hi Jan,

One of our customers have a huge number of DC sheets where same components is been repeated in different modules.

The component may be marked as 'safety relevant' in one DC sheet and marked as 'non safety relevant' in other DC sheet.

So when they have to merge some modules to the master project it takes lot of time since they need to carefully go into each details and merge else if they merge the whole module the 'safety' and 'non safety' check is been changed automatically as these information are directly from the common BOM(where it is by default marked as safety).

To reduce efforts after they merge completely could we do a script like checking if a component has a relevant effects and violates either single point or latent fault should be checked and marked as safety relevant ? so they need not do anything manually.

Right Bernhard, I just picked the first that came to my mind when reading Smittas question.

Please continue the discussion here, might be interesting to actually find the "code" that can implement "violatesAnySafetyGoal" or "leadsToAnyHazard",

independent on which is right or wrong.

I'm observing this because I also get similar problems sometimes. I'm wondering whether "violatesAnyFault" is an appropriate name. Shouldn't it be "violatesAnySafetyGoal" ?

Or, equivalent but perhaps easier to realize: lLeadsToAnyHazard"?

Hi Smitta,

of course, that sounds feasible. The crucial part is probably to find out what "relevant effect" effectively means. As mentioned by Eckhardt in your other article, a justification is required and the script does not do that. Anyway, you probably need to extend to something like:

	dcEntry.safetyRelated = hasRelevantEffects(dcEntry) && violatesAnyFault(dcEntry);
});

function violatesAnyFault(dcEntry) {
 // TODO
}
