One major use case of scripts in medini is to either read information from objects or to manipulate them. To do so, a good knowledge of the Metamodel and all object attributes is required. Although we have the Metamodel guide which outlines all classes and attributes its sometimes cumbersome to switch between tool - and real data - and the written documentation.
There are some features in the tool that make life of script developers more easy, though they are a bit hidden and not available by default. The one that I would like to mention in this article is the "Element Attributes" view as show in this picture.
In order to utilize it, you have to start the tool at the command line with "-debug" flag. Once done so, the context menu in the browser or in any diagram contains a "Diagnose | What is this?" entry. Use it on any object and the mentioned view will open.
A few hints about the view: containment and container relationships are marked special with small arrows, derived attributes are marked with "*". relationships can be browsed by double click.
