Install extensions via command line

Question

As you may know, there are several extensions available on the medini support page, for example, the JIRA task integration or the BIRT designer extension.     As described in the extension guide, they can be installed via the medini user interface. Usually that step is only required once, as medini remembers all installed extensions and powers them up on startup.     However, there might be circumstances that force you to install them more often or even frequently, for example when working with a medini in a VM that is always reset.     Fortunately the installation process can be also done via command line like this:    set SITE=...
mediniAnalyze.exe -application org.eclipse.equinox.p2.director -repository %SITE% -installIU com.ansys.redist.jira.feature.group -nosplash   This example installs the JIRA extension. All that is missing is the SITE variable. That is the same string you enter or gain in the installation wizard. In case the extension is located on a server, it is obvious. If you have downloaded the extension as a ZIP, it may look like this:   set SITE=jar:file:/C:/Users/MYSELF/Downloads/jira-extension-21.1.x.zip!/

Hi Jan,     thx for sharing! Here is extended example for the update-site*.zip based extensions.        Rem Atlassian JIRA:

set SITEJ=jar:file:/C:/Users/MYSELF/Downloads/jira-extension-update-site.zip!/
mediniAnalyze.exe -application org.eclipse.equinox.p2.director -repository %SITEJ% -installIU com.ansys.redist.jira.feature.group -nosplash

Rem BIRT report Designer

set SITEB=jar:file:/C:/Users/MYSELF/Downloads/birt-extension-update-site.zip!/
mediniAnalyze.exe -application org.eclipse.equinox.p2.director -repository %SITEB% -installIU com.ansys.redist.birt.designer.feature.group -nosplash
