Overall SPFM and LFM metrics calculation for each safety goal
medini_1064851139
Hello, In my current project, there are around 7 safety goals and i
have split the BOM components into various Modules(33 Modules - Refer BOM.jpg).
Also I have created Diagnostic coverage worksheet for each module individually
for the FMEDA analysis(Refer FMEDA.jpg). I can see the metrics(SPFM, LFM, also
PMHF in Extended properties) for each modules, but I could not find the overall
SPFM, LFM coverage for the overall safety goal. Also In the safety goals list, I could see only if the SPFM
and LFM targets are achieved or not. I could not see the numbers for each
safety goals (Safety goals list.jpg) Could you please let me know if there is a script already existing
to show the metrics with respect to each safety goal in total. Kindly let me know if you need further details for my query. Thank you, Kasi

Hello Kasi, actually you should be able to see also the results of the individual DC Sheets in the Safety Goal List (may be this column is hidden for you?): The check-mark in the "Target Achieved" Columns will show a green tick when the metrics has been achieved in all individual DC Sheets, otherwise it will show an exclamation mark (as above). For each sheet it is shown, whether the metric meets the target (OK or NOT OK) and also the results for SPF and LF metric (and target values). This helps you to find out, where there is still a problem in metrics calculation. Best regards, Eckhardt

Hello Eckhardt, Thanks for the response. Yes, i could the see the metrics with respect to each DC sheets. But my intention is to get the overall(effective) metrics achieved for each safety goal instead of split-up between the DC sheets. Is there any solution readily available to get the effective metrics. Kindly let me know if you need more information on this. Best Regards Kasi

Hello Kasi, actually there is no readily available solution for this which covers all different ways of doing FMEDA/DC Analysis. The main reason is that medini as a tool can not know how you have split and organized your work products: For each subsystem medini allows to have more than one DC Sheet (e.g. to reflect different product variations) - to sum up numbers it needs to be known, which of the DC sheets should be taken into account Moreover, starting from version 2022R1 it is even possible to support multiple variants with a single DC Sheet - here again a consistency check between the different sheet w.r.t. the analyzed variants would be required as well as a selection of which variant should be included to calculate totals The individual DC Sheets allow a couple of settings, which have an impact on the calculation (e.g. Metrics at Level, inclusion of transient faults, inclusion of ports). Again, for the calculation of totals it would be required to have consistent settings in all individual worksheets Impact of overall system structure: The overall system is build out out of the individual subsystems and may involve sequential as well as parallel (redundancy) composition. Also some subsystems may be purely HW implementations of safety mechanisms. Again, the tool can not know, whether you have taken these structural dependencies into account when performing the analyses in the individual DC Sheets. Of course, in case you follow and enforce very strict guidelines for the splitting of the system into sub-systems and for the execution of the DC analysis, you could create a script that would calculate the totals according to the guidelines - for details on the access to the appropriate data from the Meta-Model see Chapter 8 of the Meta Model Guide. On the other side, the SPF and LF Metrics both are relative metrics and the ISO standard does not mandate a detailed value for the metrics but rather requires you to show that the metrics are above an ASIl depended threshold. This also implies that in case you are above the threshold with the SPFM and LFM for all individual subsystems that you are also above the treshold with the overall system - which is refelected by the columns SPFM / LFM achieved. Best regards, Eckhardt

hello Eckhardt, Could you please let us know if you/your team could provide the support in creating the script. Thank you Kasi

Hello Kasi, this will be discussed in the regular call with the representatives of you company & the account managers. Eckhardt

hello Eckhardt, This is to inform that Kasi left our organization now. My name is Nandishwarraju, you can call me Nandish. Could you please let me know, if you have any update on this request. Our expectation is to have generic script from you to get overall metrics for each SG by extracting the values from each DC sheet SG wise. Please let us know the feedback. Thank you, Nandishwarraju

Hello Nandishwarraju, as already mentioned above to Kasi, if you want to have ANSYS developing such a script for you, you have to raise this request in the regular calls between your company representatives and the ANSYS account magaer team/field team! Eckhardt
