Configure medini via config.ini or via CLI

medini comes with a launch configuration - named mediniAnalyze.ini - that defines a few very low level and very technical things like eclipse launcher stuff and maximum memory allocation. The file is co-located to the launcher (the executable) and used by default. In some cases the user has to edit this file, in 99% of the use cases, user want or need to increase the memory that is reserved for medini. However, medini is often installed by the IT department and changing the file is forbidden. This article explains how to to it the other way. Option 1: Use the Command Line You can use the command line of medini to override values from the ini file. For example the max memory is defined as -Xmx3G in the ini file. The following command line overrides it with 6GB: mediniAnalyze.exe -vmargs -Xmx6G Note the -vmargs argument BEFORE the -X argument, exactly as it is also in the configuration file. Arguments passed this way will always overwrite values in the ini file. Option 2: Use a different ini file The command line can also be used to use a custom version of an ini file: mediniAnalyze.exe --launcher.ini C:\otherDir\myIni.ini Simply create a copy of the configuration file and use the --launcher.ini parameter to pass it as THE config file to use.
