Hello everyone. my name is Firdaus. I am from Indonesia, and I am currently learning Ansys fluent for my further academic project. I have several confusion to simulate a 2D turbine. I attach the picture of my project in the google drive link. I use 2025 R1 of Ansys version.
in specific, I just want to make this 2D turbine can rotate based on the influence of the water from the inlet, so that I can see the behavior of the turbine, such as the angular velocity, torque, coefficient of power, and coefficient of moment. the turbine is located at plane x,y, at 0,0 coordinate.
I have already made the geometry with inventor, which 450 mm for the turbine diameter, and the distance from the center of the turbine to the inlet, upside wall, downside wall, and outlet are 600 mm, 600 mm, 600 mm, and 3400 mm respectively. Then, in Ansys design modeler, I make the sketch from the surface for each rotating zone and stationary zone and suppress the original 3d geometry.
In meshing section, I set the name for each geometry (inlet, outlet, turbine wall, etc), inflation layer around the blade, face sizing, edge sizing, and use multizone tri method as the meshing method.
but the big problem is the fluent setup. I have already followed several tutorials from youtube, yet I still can't make the turbine rotate. I don't know if the problem was in the geometry or mesh setting, or maybe the problem is the fluent setup. lastly, in setup, I use transient model, viscous sst k-omega, fluid (water h2o) material, 1.5 m/s for inlet velocity, and six dof dynamic mesh.
Actually, I don't really know what is the important/minimum setting to make the simulation run as I want. please help me.
